Biography

Madeline Brenner is an emerging visual artist and art therapist born in St. Louis Missouri. Madeline’s work thematically explores interpersonal and intrapersonal relationships, human’s connection to nature, mental health, and femininity. Her art practice has evolved from exploring feminine empowerment through reclaiming natural spaces as safe, to cultivating mindfulness in the art process; utilizing a process of crystallizing salt over cyanotypes to create literal texture that is metaphorically connected to emotional feeling. Madeline is an Artist Inc Fellow, recipient of the Leigh Geraldine Meritorious Award, has curated shows at the Macoupin Art Collective and Mad Art Gallery, as well as exhibited in group settings including the Angad Art’s Hotel and Intersect Arts Center. Madeline utilizes her training as a Registered Art Therapist to provide free education in arts to women in transition, undocumented immigrants, survivors of relationship violence and children in foster care. In 2022 Madeline began selling her work at local Maker’s Markets. She received her MA in Art Therapy from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) in 2015, completed LPC and ATR licensing in 2017, and a BA in Studio Art with an emphasis in Photography from Webster University in 2012.
